Sunday Elite 5-4 Shootout WIN

On Sunday the Whalers made things tough on themselves, as early penalty trouble found them down 2-0 after the opening frame.  A 3 goal 2nd period helped get the Whalers back in the game, but the Patriots kept things close and a late Potomac tally forced OT.  After a scoreless extra frame, the Whalers won the shootout 2-1 with Tyler Dienna notching the game winner.

DJ Randle posted a pair of goal, while Cody Wilson and Bryce Leger each notched one.  Cody Wilson tallied 2 assists, while Jorai Bart, James Rowe, Nate McNamara, and Arun Cibrario each posted 1.

The Whalers help a 54-37 shot on goal advantage.  Hampton Roads went 2 for 7 on the power play while the Patriots were 2 for 6.

Sunday Premier 3-2 WIN

On Sunday the Patriots made the Whalers work for it.  Despite firing 58 shots on net, Elvinas Karla kept the high powered Whalers offense at bay most of the game.  The Patriots held a 2-1 lead heading into the 3rd period before the offense finally broke through with one early goal to knot things up and another late to complete the weekend sweep.

Brandon Osmundson scored twice, while Oliver Freden posted one.  Brady Mistler posted 2 assists while Brandon Leitz, Chris Ciolek, Jaxon Rutkowski, and Oliver Freden each had one.  Blake Bjella notched his 2nd win of the year with 19 saves in net.
