Friday- Elite 4-2 Loss

Seeing game action for the first time this season, it was a slow and sluggish start for the boys in blue and green.  Early on in the 2nd period the Whalers found themselves down 2-0 before mounting a comeback, tying the game 2-2 by the early part of the 3rd period.  The game would remain that way until just 5 minutes remained when the Flyers capitalized to take a 3-2 lead then adding an empty net goal for the 4-2 win.

Ty Brandt and Bryce Leger each tallied their 1st goal for the Whalers.  Cody Wilson, Caelan Bolanowski, and Ryan Lorenz each notched one assist.  Everett Yasinski played 2 period, yielding 2 goals on 27 shots while Michael Chmiel took the loss, playing the 3rd period, yielding 1 goal on 8 shots.

Philadelphia finished 1 for 3 on the power play while the Whalers were 0 for 3.

Friday- Premier 4-3 WIN

For the Whalers Premier team, the story started much the same, as the Whalers fell behind 2-0 just 15 minutes into the contest, but this story had a different ending.  The Whalers tallied 4 straight goals to take the lead and held off a furious late charge from the Flyers to hold on for a 4-3 win.

Max Loga, Gary Eastlack, Tianyou Zuo, and Connor Hunt each notched goals for the Whalers.  Adam Toor had 2 helpers, while John Horn and Tianyou Zuo each had 1.  Veteran Zach Alvarado made 25 saves for the win in net.

The Whalers finished 0 for 1 on the power play while the Flyers were 0 for 3.

Saturday- Elite 6-4 WIN

Game 2 for the Whalers Elite team started much better.  The boys jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the opening frame, then led 6-1 after 40 minutes, holding off a strong Flyers 3rd period for a 6-4 win.

Ty Brandt tallied two goals, while Shane Ziegler, Tyler Dienna, James Rowe, and Justin Jiang each added one.  Ryan Lorenz notched 2 assists, Justin Jiang, Cody Wilson, Ty Brandt, Cooper Gravel, and Charles DuBose each added one.  Jason Horn took the win in net, playing 2 periods, yielding one goal on 37 shots while Michael Chmiel allowed 3 goals on 15 shots in the 3rd period.
