Osmundson Named USPHL Elite Player of the Year & Forward of the Year

The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that 1998 forward and Chesapeake, VA local Brandon Osmundson has been named the 2016-17 USPHL Elite Player of the Year (MVP) and Forward of the Year.

Osmundson, 18, earned 36 goals and 77 assists for 113 points with 45 penalty minutes, 8 power play goals and 2 shorthanded goals through 55 games, pacing the USPHL Elite division in scoring. The Chesapeake, Va., native earned the USPHL Elite scoring title while also leading the league in assists and picking up 28 power play points. He’s also a two-time USPHL Elite Star of the Week on September 26 and January 9. Osmundson developed through the Whalers system, earning 42 goals and 78 assists for 120 points with 72 penalty minutes through 93 games with the USP3 team the last 2 season’s while also finishing the season leading the league in assists last season and finishing runner-up for both USP3 forward of the year and MVP.

Osmundson keeps the top offensive player in the league and MVP title's in house for the Whalers for a third straight season, following in the footsteps of Kyle Perkowski last season and TJ Sneath the prior.
