The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that Whaler Alumni goaltender Brett Kilar has signed an amateur tryout contract with the Norfolk Admirals, ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.

The 1992 birth year Kilar (Coto de Caza, CA), just completed his 4 year career at NCAA New England College.  During his 4 year collegiate career, Kilar posted a 34-21-10 record with a 2.23 GAA, .931 save % and 8 shutouts for the Pilgrims.

Kilar spent the 2012-13 season with the Whalers EJHL South squad and helped lead the Whalers to 2nd place and a playoff berth in the EJHL South while posting a record of 14-7-0-1, with a 3.08 GAA, .911 Save % and 1 shutout, appearing in 24 games for Hampton Roads.  Brett was in the top 5 in the league in all major categories, finishing 3rd in the league in wins, 4th in save %, and 5th in GAA while earning his commitment to New England College.

Kilar will join Philippe Desrosiers in the goaltending tandem with the Admirals after Brandon Anderson was placed on IR due to an injury.  He will wear #35.

Kilar is the 2nd Whalers Alum to sign a pro deal this year, following P.J. Hefferin who signed with the Danbury Titans of the FHL.  Kilar becomes the 10th Whalers alumnus to make it to the pro ranks.
