The Whalers U16AA hosted the Richmond Royals U16AA team for a non-league exhibition game.  This game would be their fourth and final game in a tough series mixed of league and non-league games.

Once again, the Whalers got off to a quick start as Joey Tarantino scored from Caleb Jimenez and Nico Degnan at 14:28, just thirty-two seconds into the game.  The Royals were able to knot up the score at 10:57 and take the lead 2-1 with just 1:59 left in the first.  The first period would end with zero penalty minutes for the Whalers while outshooting the Royals 9-11.

Unfortunately for the Whalers, they could not stay out of the box.  Just like the third period of the previous game, the Whalers sat for twenty-four penalty minutes in the second.  The Whalers were still able put one past the Royals net minder as Jonathon Jones scored from Roman Degnan at 6:02.  However, the Royals scored two in this frame extending their lead 4-2 at 6:28 and 0:30.  The mounting penalty trouble for the Whalers allowed the Royals to put up twenty-two shots to the home team’s four.

The third period was back and forth in play and was very exciting as the Whalers fought to close in on the Royal’s lead.  Roman Degnan was able to cut the lead to one as he split the defenders and put a quick unassisted wrister in at 4:09.  The Whalers had many chances to even things up but just couldn’t find the back of the net and lost 3-4.  The Whalers edged out the Royals in shots in the third but were well short in total going down 35-20.  In net for the Whalers was Kevin Whitbeck stopping thirty-one of the Royals attempts.
