The Whalers were hosted by the Carolina Storm U16A Red team for their second game of the day and the fourth of the weekend.  Despite being down two players for misconducts in the previous game, the Whalers were able to stay focused and play to a 4-3 win over the Storm.

In the opening period, the Whalers got off to a one goal lead as Ben Trainer put one in from Eddie Baylor for a nice power play goal at 2:41.

The Whalers extended their lead in the second as Jonathon Jones shot in a shorthanded goal assisted by Alphee’ Herion.  Less than a minute later, Herion scored his own unassisted goal as he nailed a slap shot to the back of the net.  The Storm didn’t go down quietly as they put two on the board at 9:36 and 7:03.

In the third period, the Whalers served one penalty.  The Storm took full advantage and equalized the score at 5:24 making the score 3-3.  However, Coach Cody LaDouceur and the Whalers did not let up and with 0:32 seconds on the clock, Baylor put in the unassisted game winner.

Goaltending for the Whalers was Kevin Whitbeck.  Whitbeck got the win saving 28 of the Storm’s 31 shots.  The Whalers took the game 4-3 putting 21 shots on net.

Out of action for this game were Grant Phillips, Joey Tarantino and Caleb Jimenez.
