Virginia native and longtime Hampton Roads Whaler Gerald Owen will play in the Tier 2 Jr. A North American Hockey League (NAHL) next season for the Alexandria Blizzard.  Owen played his youth hockey for the Whalers before spending 3 years playing for the Junior Whalers.  Owen will join another former Whaler in forward Chad Spiller on the Blizzard roster next season.  Last season Owen complied 14 goals and 10 assists in 37 games for the Northern Cyclones in the AJHL.  When asked about Owen coach Winkler said, " Gerald worked hard to reach the next level, he is a product of Hampton Roads Whaler hockey and we are all proud to see him excel, we wish him the best of luck at the next level."
