Summer Training Update!

“It was a great experience for us, we battled hard every game,” stated Whalers GM/Head Coach Tom Winkler after returning from the Boston summer classic. Not what you might expect from a coach whose team went winless in the tournament. Playing in the “Junior A Elite” bracket was a challenge for the young Whalers team, but time again Coach Winkler praised their effort and their competitiveness. “It really was a great opportunity for our kids to play against some outstanding talent, it is not every day that we are able to skate against OHL, major Division 1 NCAA players, USHL, CJHL, BCHL, and EJHL players. There is a lot to be said for how hard we competed, I know I have said that quite a bit, but we never gave up. That showed me what type of character this team has. This weekend will only make us better,” stated Winkler.

With the tournament behind them, the Whalers continue their summer training program. This intense 8-week practice format  will allow Coach Winkler and Coach Blasé to meld their teams and work on individual skill development. “One of the major benefits of the Whaler program is the amount of ice we have, we can really focus on the players individual development. Building the players puck confidence makes it that much easier for them to execute our style of play,” stated Winkler.

There are four weeks of Junior Summer Training remaining and participation is open to any player  bantam age and above. For more information, please contact Coach Winkler at 757-374-8417.

Both Whaler Junior teams have roster spots open, for more information please call Coach Winkler at 757-374-8417.
