The Whalers U16 tournament team couldn't get things rolling this past weekend in the Philly Shootout in
Game one of the weekend brought on the NJ Habs. The Habs controlled play from the onset and cruised to a 3-1 victory. The lone Whaler goal was scored by Nico Degnan from Joey Tarantino at the
Game two saw the boys face the Quakers. The Whalers dominated the physical play, delivering bone crushing hits to the Quakers but once again the Whalers offense stalled en route to a 3-0 defeat. The Whalers couldn't stay out of the penalty box, as they were shorthanded for a total of 29 minutes out of the 39 minute game. The Whalers penalty kill was great, they didn't allow a PP goal, including killing off a 5 minute fighting major to Brian Lewandowski and 2 minute 5 on 3. Kevin Whitbeck took the loss in goal stopping 40 of 43 Quakers shots.
Game 3 look a lot more promising against the Valley Forge Americans. The Whalers received the offensive spark they needed after falling behind early 1-0.
