The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that the tryout camp for the 2014-2015 Jr. Whalers USPHL Elite & Empire Jr. Hockey teams will be held May 16th-18th, 2014 at the Chilled Ponds Ice and Turf Sports Complex in Chesapeake, VA.
All prospective players must attend this camp. The Whalers will be looking to build off a very successful 2013-2014 season as the organization continues to be a dominate powerhouse in the USPHL.
The Elite team finished with a record of 25-14-1-0, good for 51 points and the #1 seed in the USPHL playoffs. The team boasted 2 of the leagues top goals scorers in Alex Brissette (68 points) and TJ Sneath (43 points). Defenseman Michael Addison (30 points) and Sean Carpenter (26 points) finished 4th and 6th among defenseman in scoring, and goaltender's Taylor Brost and Blake Scott both finished in the top ten in the league.
The Empire team finished with a record of 20-17-1-2, good for 43 points and the #2 seed in the USPHL playoff's. The team boasted one of the top offensives and power players in the league, finishing 7th in the league of 24 teams with 174 goals for, and the #1 ranked power play at 29.12%. The Whalers finished with 4 of the leagues top 15 scorers, inluding the top two in Jeremy Wilson (77 points) and Joe Paul (71 points), with Marcus Cassidy (53 points) and Jonathon Arnaud (49 points) finishing 13th and 14th overall. Defenseman Jacob Toro notched 34 points, finishing 3rd among all defeseman in league scoring. The rookie duo of Zach Alvarado and Ryan Drucker notched a combined 14 wins, and veteran JT Ketzenberger notched 3 after being aquired late in the season.
