Two Jr. Whalers Commit to Becker College

#7 Joe Francis and #11 PJ Hefferin

The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that EJHL South Forwards Joe Francis and Paul Hefferin have committed to play NCAA College Hockey for the Becker College Hawks for the 2012-2013 season.  The Hawks compete in the ECAC Northeast Division.  Hefferin and Francis are the first two commitments from the Whalers 2011-2012 team.  The Whalers expect more commitments to follow in the coming weeks.

Francis is a 6'0, 175 pound 1991 forward from Long Beach, CA.  2011-2012 was Joe's only season with the Whalers.  Joe posted 10 goals and 4 assists in 32 games for the Whalers, including 2 PP goals, 2 PP assists, 1 game winning goal, and 14 PIMS.  Joe will major in exercise science at Becker. 

"Joe has been a tremendous asset to the Jr. Whalers program, stated Whalers Owner/GM Patrick Cavanagh."  "His hard work and dedication both on and off the ice will benefit him greatly as he continues his hockey career.  Coach Steve Hoar and the Hawks have a great hockey player and an even better young man joining their hockey program."

#11 Paul Hefferin


#11 Paul "PJ" Hefferin

Hefferin, is a 6'2, 190 pound 1991 forward from Lake Worth, FL.  In 2011-2012 was Hefferin's 3rd season with the Whalers.  PJ posted 20 goals and 38 assists for 58 points for the Whalers in 46 games, including 9 PP goals, 16 PP assists, and 20 PIMS.  PJ will also major in exercise science at Becker.

"PJ has been a huge part of the Whalers family for many years, stated Whalers Owner/GM Patrick Cavanagh."  "I am proud to see PJ's hard work pay off as he continues his career at the NCAA level.  His on ice vision, playmaking ability,  and tremendous shot will be a big asset to Coach Steve Hoar and the Hawks program."
