Over the last 6 weeks, we are running a 9 part Season Preview series to highlight the 9 Hampton Roads Whalers Travel Teams and the upcoming 2023-2024 hockey season.  This week, we continue with part 8 of the series and the U16 team.

This Season the U16 team will be playing in the CBHL Upper A division. The group that has been selected this year are all hard workers and are working towards the same goal to a CBHL Championship. Expectations are high for this group. The team is made up of players from last seasons Whalers U14 National Team in Michael Marzitello, Logan Crowder, Liam Callahan, Maddon Rose, Rylen Miller, Barret Marcoux, and Evan Northrop. Other returning Whalers include players from the CBHL runner up U14 Wales Whalers in Levi Seymour, Carter Turnquist, Tyler Snowdeal, Maddox Reeves, Derek Huepenbecker, Dustin Garrett. We’re also excited to welcome in Caitlyn Weir, who played up an age band last season with the U18 Whalers team, along with Nicholas Cutillo from the Warriors.

“I’m very Excited for this Opportunity to Coach this group", stated head coach Chris Pascal.  "We have already stared team off season workouts and I’m eager to get on the ice and get to work. Our team definitely has a lot of motivated players willing to learn, and that’s all you can ask for.  My goal this year is to get this group a CBHL championship and develop my players to continue to advance within the sport, whether that be Juniors or college".

Anne Marzitello who will Serve as our team manager this year and Ryan Rose will serve as assistant coach.  Junior Whalers Premier forward Evan Miles will be running team off ice workouts for the kids along with taking his time to get them on this ice for group skates. We are very lucky to have a great group from the players to the staff and can’t wait to see the strides we take this year.
