#71 Daniel McGeever

"Daniel was the most improved player for the Whalers this season", stated Whalers Chairman Patrick Cavanagh.  "He began training last summer at a rigorous pace, every day, and the results were extraordinary. He has the unique ability to change a game every shift he takes and was the ultimate teammate. In only one year, he became a true Whaler, one who will he remembered as he continues his Journey. I am very proud of him and know Coach Carrol will greatly appreciate him in the lineup for NEC".

The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that 1999 forward Daniel McGeever from Clayton, NC has committed to playing college hockey in 2020 for the New England College Pilgrims.

McGeever, in his 1st season with the Whalers and 3rd in the USPHL, posted 12 points on 5 goals and 7 assists in 41 games this season in the blue and green.  In 3 seasons in the USPHL, McGeever skated in 105 career games, tallying 59 total points on 25 goals and 34 assists along with 210 penalty minutes.

"I’m excited for the opportunity to play for New England College next year", stated McGeever.  "I want to thank the entire Whalers Organization and community for the opportunity they provided me this past season. The guidance of Patrick Cavanagh, Coach Gatto, and Coach Rodriguez has had a huge impact on my hockey career and I can not thank them enough. Without them, my parents, my billet family and the boys pushing me everyday, I would not have developed as much as I did. I’m ready to take the next step forward and I’m thankful that Coach Carroll is giving me this opportunity"!

“ Daniel is a great teammate and character player who changes the tempo and momentum every time he’s on the ice”, stated head coach Greg Gatto.  “He worked extremely hard to develop his game and will continue to grow as a player and student. I am very proud of Daniel and am very excited for his family”.

New England College is located in Henniker, NH and competes in the NCAA’s division 3 New England Hockey Conference (NEHC).

McGeever is the 6th Whaler committed from the 2019-20 season joining Jacob Kaplan (Morrisville), Chris Mott (Morrisville), Joe DiGiulio (Neumann), Thomas McGuire (Neumann), and Connall Muldoon (Western Washington).
