Jr. Whalers: USPHL Chicago Showcase Preview

The Whalers wrapped up a 4 game home stand this past weekend and will embark on a 8 game road trip starting with a 4 game set beginning October 12th in Chicago as the Whalers will attend the USPHL Chicago Showcase for the 1st time.  All games will be played at the Canlan Sports Complex in Romeoville, IL and can be seen live and online on HockeyTV.

Whalers Elite Preview

The Whalers Elite team is off to a strong start through 6 games this season as they sit 4-1-1-0 on the year, with 9 points, and sit in 2nd position in the USPHL Elite Southeast Division.  The Whalers have produced 16 goals for on the season and 12 goals against.  Their power play sits 21st in the league at 8.0% while their penalty kill ranks 8th with a 90.0% success rate.  Nolan Cavanagh paces the Whalers offense with 5 points while Ty Brandt, Tyler Dienna, James Rowe, and Caelan Bolanowski all have produced 4 points respectively.  Everett Yasinski leads all Whalers goalies with a 3-0-1-0 record and 1.41 GAA.  Jason Horn leads the team with a .941 save %.

The Whalers Elite team will open the weekend against the Florida Jr. Blades.  The Blades have only played 3 games so far due to hurricane Irma, and have gone 2-1-0 to start the year, with 4 points, good enough for the 4th spot in the USPHL Elite Florida Division.  The Blades have produced 9 goals for on the season and 7 goals against.  Their power play sits 13th in the league at 14.4% while their penalty kill ranks 12th with a 87.5% success rate.  Gage Dill and Jirka Kalis have paced the offense in the early going with 5 and 4 points respectively while Luke Eslinger leads all goalies at 1-0 with a 1.93 GAA and .935 save%.

Oct. 13th vs. Tampa Bay Juniors (9:10am)
