Whalers USP3, Elite Roll Over PPats Thursday Night

USP3- 13-1 WIN

The Whalers broke an early 1-1 tie with 12 unanswered goals, 7 in the 2nd period and cruised to a 13-1 route over the Potomac Patriots USP3 squad.

14 Whalers posted points, 7 Whalers had multi point games.  John Moncovich set the tone with 5 goals and 2 assists, Brandon Osmundson tallied 2 goals and 3 assists, Austin Boyle had 5 helpers, Caelan Bolanowski tallied a hat trick and 1 assist, Gary Eastlack had 1 goal and 3 assists, while Alex Ouellet and Peyton Midgette each had 4 assists. Cody Wilson and Brendan Stengel each tallied 1 goal, while Kyle Prestis, Jared Gale, Christian Johansen, Nick Gimbel, and Dustin White had 1 assist each.  Jeremy Kurek posted his 8th win of the season in net with 17 saves.

The Whalers held a 43-18 shot on goal advantage.  The Patriots finished 1 for 5 on the PP, the Whalers were 2 for 3.

 

Elite- 6-1 WIN

The Whalers Elite team took one more step towards claiming a 2nd straight Southern Conference regular season title with a 6-1 win over the Potomac Patriots, beating their I-96 rival for the 5th time in 6 games this season.  The Patriots struck first just 5 minutes into the game on the PP before the Whalers struck twice in the opening frame and 4 times in the middle frame en route to the 6-1 win.

Radek Sawicki continued his hot streak, posting 2 goals and 1 assist to pace the Whalers offense.  Radek now has 8 points in the last 2 games for the Whalers.  Billy Brock posted 1 goal and 2 assists  while Domenic Moore had 3 helpers.  Jacob Gerson, Luke VanSchacck, and Jacob Lainesse each tallied 1 goal each while Tal Finberg, Ryan Bochert, Cole Helgemo, and Brendan Zach each contributed 1 assist each.  JT Ketzenberger picked up his 15th win of the season in goal with 31 saves, moving up to a tie for 2nd in the USPHL in wins.

The Whalers held a 46-32 shot on goal advantage.  The Whaler PP struggled to 0 for 7 on the man advantage, while the Patriots went 1 for 3.  

Sean Tannebaum and Kyle Perkowski missed the game, serving their one game suspension from Saturdays altercation vs. Richmond.
