11 Whalers Honored as USPHL All-Stars

The Hampton Roads Whalers are proud to announce and congratulate the 11 Whalers who have been recognized by the coaching staffs in the USPHL as 2015-16 USPHL South All-Stars.

USPHL ELITE SOUTH ALL STARS

#19 Domenic Moore

Woodhaven, MI

(19G-33A-52PTS)

Dom has been one of the top players in the USPHL Elite this season.  He ranks 4th in the USPHL and 3rd on the Whalers in points, while ranking 5th in the league in assists and 6th in PPG.  He has also posted 1 shorthanded goal and 2 game winning goals.  Dom's 52 points rank him among the top 50 players in all of tier 3 hockey in points this season.  Dom was a unanimous all-star selection, receiving 9 out of 9 votes in being selected.

#9 Jacob Gerson

Colorado Springs, CO

The Whalers captain ranks 3rd overall in the USPHL and is tied for 1st on the Whalers in points.  He leads the league in game winning goals w/ an impressive 8, while also ranking 2nd in goals, and 9th in assists.  He has posted 9 of his 54 points on the power play and his point total rank Jacob among the top 40 tier 3 players in the country in overall points. Jacob was a unanimous all-star selection, receiving 9 out of 9 votes in being selected.

#16 Kyle Perkowski

Riverview, MI

No one has scored more goals in the USPHL this season than Kyle Perkowski.  He is tied for 3rd in the USPHL, and 1st on the Whalers in points and leads the league in goals with 32.  Kyle has posted 11 of his points on the PP in addition to posting 3 game winning goals.  Kyle's 54 points rank him among the top 40 tier 3 players in overall points. Kyle was a unanimous all-star selection, receiving 9 out of 9 votes in being selected.

#3 Henry Hearon

Chicago, IL

Henry has been one of the best skating and puck moving defenseman in the USPHL Elite this season.  He ranks tied for 7th on the Whalers in points, and 9th in the league in PP assists with 9.  His 27 points tie him with Brendan Zack for most points among the teams defenseman, and his 3 goals rank him 3rd among defenseman on the Whalers.

#6 Brendan Zack

Sarvar, PA

(7G-20A-27PTS)

Brendan brings a combination of both skill and grit to the Whalers.   He is tied for 7th overall on the team in scoring and is tied with Henry Hearon as the Whalers highest scoring defenseman.  Brendan's 7 goals this season rank him 1st in goals among the teams defenseman.  Brendan was a unanimous all-star selection, receiving 9 out of 9 votes in being selected.

USP3 SOUTH ALL STARS

#12 John Moncovich

Wilmington, NC

John has been one of the most dominating goal scorers in the USP3 this season, ranking 1st on the Whalers in points, 2nd in the USPHL in points and goals, and 5th in the USPHL PP goals.  John has also posted 2 short handed goals and 4 game winning goals.  He ranks 5th in the nation in scoring among tier 3 junior players in total points.  John was a unanimous all-star selection, receiving 10 out of 10 votes in being selected.

#21 Brandson Osmundson

Chesapeake, VA

Brandon has been one of the best distributors in the league this year.  He ranks 3rd in the league and 2nd on the Whalers in overall points.  He also ranks 1st overall in the league in assists and 6th overall in PP assists.  His 24 goals rank 2nd on the team, while his 3 game winning goals rank 3rd.  He ranks 6th in the nation in scoring among all tier 3 players in points.  Brandon was a unanimous all-star selection, receiving 10 out of 10 votes in being selected.

#16 Caelan Bolanowski

Virginia Beach, VA

(13G-31A-44PTS)

Caelan ranks 3rd on the team and 13th overall in the league in points, and is tied for 4th in the league in game winning goals w/ 5. His points rank him 3rd highest among Piedmont division teams.  His 13 goals rank 4th on the team, while he has also posted 2 PP goals and 5 PP assists on the season.  His 44 points rank Caelan in the top 5% of all tier 3 players.

#22 James Boisvert

Mansfield, TX

(2G-13A-15PTS)

James is the top scoring defenseman for the Whalers, despite missing 2 months with an injury.  His 13 assists rank 6th on the team, and he has posted 4 PPA and 1 GWG.  James was a unanimous all-star selection, receiving 10 out of 10 votes in being selected

#30 Zach Alvarado

Virginia Beach, VA

(12-4-1, 3.31 GAA, .900 Save %, 1 shutout)

Zach has backstopped the division leading Whalers all season.  He is tied for 5th overall in the USPHL in wins, which ranks 3rd in the Southern division.  Zach ranks 6th among Piedmont division goaltenders in save %.

#6 Alex Ouellet

Moncton, New Brunswick

(2G-9A-11PTS)

Despite missing 6 weeks with injury, Alex has been one of the premier puck moving and shut down defenseman in the USP3 this season.  7 of Alex’s 11 points have come on the power play, with 2 PP goals and 5 PP assists.

The Whalers would also like to congratulate former goaltender Trevor Hawkes (Poplar Grove, IL) for being named to the USP3 (Team Florida) All-Star squad.  Trevor was traded to the Daytona Racers in December.  He has a 6-6-0 record with a 3.56 GAA, .913 Save%, and 3 shutouts. Trevor posted all 6 of his wins and all 3 shutouts while with the Whalers.  During his time in Hampton Roads he posted a 1.90 GAA and .941 Save %.
