Whalers Elite/USP3 Sweep Rush, Pad Division Lead

Saturday USP3 4 vs. Rush 1

Saturday night the Whalers came within 3 minutes of shutting out the Rush for a 4th straight game, as the Whalers dominated play in a 4-1 victory.

John Moncovich (2), Caelan Bolanowski, and Jaymen Swygert scored for the Whalers.  Brandon Osmundson (3), Christian Johansen (2), Austin Glaser, Brendan Stengel, and Caelan Bolanowski each picked up assists.  Zach Alvarado picked up the win in goal with 21 saves.

The Whalers finished 0 for 2 on the PP, while the Rush went 0 for 4.  The Whalers held a 34-22 shot advantage.

Saturday Elite 5 vs. Rush 1

The last time these two teams met, they combined for 20 goals combined on the weekend, this time around the Whalers buckled down on the defensive end, riding a 3 goal 2nd period for their 4th straight win over Charlotte 5-1.

Luke VanSchaack scored twice for the Whalers while Jacob Gerson, Dominic Moore, and Kyle Perkowski each scored one apiece.  Henry Hearon (2), Tal Finberg, Luke VanSchaack, Radek Sawicki, Cole Helgemo, Tim O'Connor, and Ryan Bochert posted assists.  Sean Tannenbaum picked up his team and league leading 11th win of the season in net with 17 saves.

The Whalers outshot Charlotte 43-18.  Charlotte went 0 for 7 on the PP, the Whalers went 2 for 5.

Sunday USP3 5 vs. Rush 2

On Sunday the Whalers continued their dominating weekend over the Rush, scoring 3 1st period goals in a 5-2 win.

John Moncovich (3), Brandon Osmundson, and Cody Wilson all scored for the Whalers.  Caelan Bolanowski (2), Dustin White, Austin Glaser, Cody Wilson, Brandon Osmundson, and James Boisvert posted assists.  Jeremy Kurek scored his 6th win of the season in net with 10 saves.

The Whalers outshot the Rush 36-12.  Charlotte finished 1 for 2 on the PP, the Whalers went 0 for 3.

With the weekend sweep, the Whalers have won 3 in a row, and 14 of the last 15.  After a Richmond split with Carolina, the Whalers have a 3 point lead atop the division with a game in hand.

Sunday Elite 6 vs. Rush 1

On Sunday the Whalers wasted little time establishing their dominance, scoring 1 minute into the game, and 3 times in the 1st period en route to a 6-1 win.

Radek Sawicki (2), Ryan Bochert, Luke VanSchaack, Kyle Perkowski, and Billy Brock scored goals for the Whalers.  Dominic Moore (3), Jacob Gerson (2), Henry Hearon, Seamus O'Kane, Kyle Perkowski, Radek Sawicki, Jared Gale, and Jayson Dimizio posted assists.  JT Ketzenberger remained undefeated this season in goal with his 6th win, making 12 saves.

The Whalers blasted the Rush in the shot department, 58-13.  The Whalers finished 1 for 7 on the PP while Charlotte went 0 for 5.

With the weekend sweep, the Whalers have won 3 in a row, and 19 of the last 20.  After a Palm Beach split with Atlanta, the Whalers have a 6 point lead atop the division with two games in hand.

 

What's on Tap?

The Whalers will enjoy a week off with their families for the Thanksgiving holiday before returning to practice in preparation for a visit to Atlanta, GA and a match-up at the Marrietta Ice Center against the Atlanta Knights.
