USP3 Recap

Friday vs. Islanders HC 3-2 Shootout Win

Brandon Osmundson tallied both regulation goals for the Whalers, and tallied the shootout GWG.  Caelan Bolanowski (2), John Moncovich, and Peyton Midgette each had assists.

Jeremy Kurek secured the win in goal with 28 saves in regulation on 4 in the shootout.

Friday vs. Michigan Wild 4-3 Win

Saturday vs. Jersey Hitmen 2-0 Loss

On the back end of 3 games in a 23 hour span, the Whalers USP3 team  saw their 11 game winning streak come to an end at the hands of the top team in the North, the Jersey Hitmen 2-0.

The Hitmen converted twice on the PP, one at 5 on 3, and one at 5 on 4 while goalie Alec Vitton shutout the Whalers offense with 23 saves.  Zach Alvarado took the loss in goal with 32 saves.

Sunday vs. Springfield Pics 6-0 Win

Elite Recap

Friday vs. Islanders HC 2-1 Win

The opening match-up of the weekend pitted the top team in the South against the top team in the North.  The two teams didn't disappoint as the Whalers scored with just 5 seconds left for the 2-1 win.

Ryan Bochert and Jacob Gerson scored goals for the Whalers.  Gerson and Brendan Zack had the assists.

Jacob Berger picked up the win in goal with 21 saves.

Friday vs. Providence Capitals 17-0 Win

After playing against the best the North had to offer in the morning, the Whalers played the worst on Friday night, taking it to the Providence Capitals by more than 2 touchdowns, 17-0.

Scoring was aplenty, with Radek Sawicki (3), Jacob Gerson (2), Tal Finberg (2), Kyle Perkowski (2), Jacob Lainese (2), Luke VanSchaack, Henry Hearon, Billy Brock, Domenic Moore, Jayson Dimizio, and Ryan Bochert all scored.  Assist went to Brendan Zack, Domenic Moore, Jared Gale, and Ryan Bochert with 2 apiece, and Travis Volmert, Henry Hearon, Seamus O'Kane, Billy Brock, Jacob Gerson, Luke VanSchaack, Kyle Perkowski, Cole Helgemo, Jacob Laineese, Jayson Dimizio, and Tim O'Connor with 1 apiece.

Sean Tannenbaum scored the win and his 2nd shutout of the year in goal with 13 saves.

Saturday vs. Jersey Hitmen 3-1 Loss

On Saturday, much like the USP3 team, the Hitmen played spoiler, as the Whalers ran into a hot goaltender who broke the Whalers 16 game winning streak.

Kyle Perkowski scored the lone goal from Radek Sawicki and Domenic Moore.

Jacob Berger took the loss in goal with 17 saves.  Nick Modica shut down the potent Whalers offense with 28 saves.

Sunday vs. Rochester Jr. Americans 7-3 Win

On Sunday the Whalers looked to bounce back from only their 2nd loss of the season.  Just 8 minutes into the contest, things looked very dim, as the Americans tallied 3 quick PP goals to go up 3-0 and chase starter JT Ketzenberger after only 4 shots.  The high powered Whalers offensive attack went to work, scoring 7 straight for the 7-3 win.

Ryan Bochert and Jacob Gerson paced the offense with 2 goals each while Tal Finberg, Henry Hearon, and Kyle Perkowski each scored 1.  Assists went to Gerson (2), Tim O'Connor (2), Henry Hearon, Seamus O'Kane, Kyle Perkowski, Ryan Bochert, and Konrad Cwikla.

Sean Tannenbaum scored the win in goal in relief with 22 saves. Domenic Moore was ejected from the game.

With 6 of a possible 8 points, the Elite team maintains the top spot in the South with 2 games in hand on 2nd place Palm Beach.
