The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that 6'1, 190lb, 1994 forward Trevor Voelker has committed to play NCAA hockey for St. Anselm next fall.

Voelker, a Columbus, OH native, just completed his 2nd season with the Whalers, notching 14 goals and 9 assists this season for 23 points in 40 games for the Whalers.  Trevor tallied 3 power play goals and 3 power play assists to go along with an impressive 6 game winning goals this season.  He also tallied 3 goals in 8 playoffs games, helping the Whalers reach their 2nd straight USPHL Final Four appearance and claim the USPHL Southern Conference regular season championship.

"My time with the Whalers was great", stated Voelker.  "They gave me the exposure to the east coast coaches and scouts that I would not of had back home playing in the Midwest.  I have never played for an organization that top to bottom does their best to develop the players and then push to move them forward on to college.  My two years with the Whalers was the best move of my career and I will miss everyone here."

"Congratulation to Trevor on reaching his college goal", stated head coach Rod Taylor.  "Trevor has been one of our best all around players, and worked hard both on the ice and in the gym and deserves this achievement.  I wish him the best of luck at St. A's."

St. Anselm is located in Manchester, NH and competes in the NCAA's Northeast 10 conference.

This season the Hawks won the programs 9th NE10 Conference Championship.

The Whalers will be announcing many more NCAA commitments in the next few weeks, stay tuned to www.whalernation.com for more commitment announcements.
