Alvarado, Osmundson Earn USPHL POW Honors

The Hampton Roads Jr. Whalers are proud to announce that two local Whaler Nation products have been named USPHL Players of the Week.  Goaltender Zach Alvarado (Virginia Beach) and forward Brandon Osmundson (Chesapeake) both had strong weekends in the Whalers sweep of the Potomac Patriots.

Goaltender of Week: Zach Alvarado (Hampton Roads Whalers)

Alvarado, a 1997 from Virginia Beach, VA posted back to back shutout performances this past weekend, leading the Whalers to a big 4 points against the Potomac Patriots.  On Saturday, Alvarado stopped all 24 shots he faced en route to a 2-0 victory for the Whalers, then on Sunday, Alvarado turned aside all 47 shots he faced in another 2-0 Whalers victory.  The wins were Alvarado’s 4th and 5th of the season, with his goals against average improving to 3.34 and save percentage to .903.

Offensive Player of Week: Brandon Osmundson (Hampton Roads Whalers)

The 1998-born rookie forward from Chesapeake, VA continues his second half surge, posting 2 assists, 1 on the power play, and finishing the weekend +2 in the Whalers weekend sweep and back to back shutouts of the Potomac Patriots.  The young forward now has 16 points on the season.
