Saturday 2-1 (3-2) Shootout Loss

On Saturday the Whalers and Generals played in a hard, physical battle between I-64 rivals.  The Generals connected late in the 1st period and carried a 1-0 lead after 20.  In the 2nd period, Caelan Bolanowski converted off a face-off from John Moncovich and Domen Perovsek to tie the game at 1-1.  The game would remain that way through the 3rd and force overtime.  In OT, the Whalers had numerous chances to end the game, including two glorious chances from Zach McDaniel and John Moncovich, but the Whalers were unable to solve the net minding of Garrett McGowen and the game would head into a shootout.  In the shootout both McDaniel and Moncovich converted their chances, but the Generals scored all 3 of theirs to take the 2-1 win.  JT Ketzenberger made 41 saves in the loss.  The Whalers picked up a valuable point in the standings.

Sunday 7-3 WIN

On Sunday the Whalers came out with revenge on their mind, showing strong team resiliency after dropping a tough battle the night before.  The Whalers rode a 4 goal first period onslaught en route to a 7-3 victory.

Caelan Bolanowski set the tone with 1 goal and 2 assists.  Ty Ayers racked up his 1st 2 goals of the season and added an assist.  John Moncovich and Domen Perovsek each tallied 1 goal and 1 assist, while Brandon Osmundson notched 2 assists.  Zach McDaniel and John Horn also scored for the Whalers, while Nick Gimbel, Alex Ouellet, Peyton Midgette, Jared Gale, and Christian Johansen each notched 1 assist.  JT Ketzenberger stopped 36 shots in the victory.

Saturday 1-0 Loss

On Saturday the Whalers brought in a 5-1 record against Richmond and faced off with the Generals with the #1 play-off seed already locked up, and a Generals team jockeying for play-off positioning.  The Whalers ran head on into a brick wall, as Generals goaltender Tucker Murphy stopped all 39 Whalers shots to lead Richmond to a 1-0 win.  Sean Tannenbaum was just as good for the Whalers turning in a 38 save performance, but the Whalers offense, marred by a 0 for 6 PP performance, fell victim to the Generals.

Sunday 5-3 WIN

On Sunday the Whalers league leading offense regained its form, jumping out to a 4-0 lead, and cruising to a 5-3 win.  Dominic Moore lead the way for the Whalers with 2 goals, TJ Sneath, Ryan Webber, and Oliver Lindstrom also tallied goals.  Lindstrom, Webber, Nate Richards, Jacob Gerson, Griffin Leach, Kody Rodriguez, Nick Richards, Tanner Tinoco, and Regen Cavanagh each tallied an assist.  Sean Tannenbaum again lead the way in goal with a 41 save performance.
