The Hampton Roads Whalers are extremely saddened by the passing of long time friend Sharon Lessard, mother of Whalers alum Kellan Lessard.

"Sharon was a special person on many levels", stated Whalers Chairman Patrick Cavanagh.  "Being in her presence made all of us feel better.  She was a leader in all aspects of her personal and professional life.  Sharon was a founding member of the Hampton Roads Whalers.  Her time, effort, and commitment has provided many people the opportunities, friendships, and community that the sport of hockey encompasses.  Words simply cannot describe my gratitude for having known Sharon, nor our collective loss in her passing." 

Our thoughts and prayers go out to her husband Rene, and two kids, Ginny and Kellan.
