The Jr. Whalers Elite squad wrapped up their pre-season slate of games this past weekend with a split against the Philadelphia Revolution.

Saturday 5-4 Loss

#17 T.J. Sneath

In a weekend series that felt more like a playoff game rather than a pre-season game, the Jr. Whalers and Philly Rev exchanged highlight goals, stellar saves, big hits, and toe to toe fights over the course of two games this past weekend at the Chilled Ponds.

TJ Sneath got the Whalers on the board at 16:30 of the 1st period on a goal from Oliver Lindstrom to put the Whalers ahead 1-0.  The Rev would fight back at 10:08 on a goal from Dean Zerby to knot things up 1-1 after 20 minutes of play.

IN the 2nd period, Graham Winship knocked a rebound home off the stick of Dillon Kivo who's aggressive fore-check forced a turnover just inside the Revolution blue line to make it 2-1 Whalers at 13:00.  The Rev would again answer back, this time at 6:30 when Zach England found space behind net minder Taylor Brost to tie it up 2-2 after 40 minutes.

The Rev would storm out of the gate in the 3rd period, converting twice in less than a minute on goals from Nick Patullo and Noah Wild to go ahead 4-2 with 14:49 still to play.  The Whalers would mount a furious comeback on the shoulders of veteran forward TJ Sneath, who would convert at 13:29 from Griffin Leach and Ryan Webber to make it 4-3 and then again at 12:26 from Luke Slouka and Nick Richards to tie it up.  The Rev would respond with a back breaking goal just 16 seconds after Sneath tied things up to go ahead for good 5-4 on a redirected shot by Mike Chester.

Taylor Brost took the loos in goal for the Whalers, stopping 39 of 45 Rev shots.  For Philly, Danili Gerasamov picked up the win in goal stopping 47 of 52 Whalers shots.

Dominic Moore of Hampton Roads along with James Utley and Kyle Crane of Philadelphia were ejected from the game.

Sunday 4-3 WIN

#22 Ryan Webber

Sunday's rematch would not disappoint, as both teams came out with just as much intensity as the night before as the two teams exchanged goals, saves and bone-jarring hits.

Philadelphia got the scoring started at 15:96 with Ryan Webber serving a 5 minute major, on a rebound shot that snuck under the cross bar from Tim Murphy.  The 1st period would end in favor of the Rev 1-0, as the Whalers spent 11 minutes in the penalty box during the period.

In the 2nd period, TJ Sneath converted his 4th goal of the series at 14:07 on the PP from Griffin Leach and Ryan Webber to knot it up 1-1.  The Rev would counter at 6:45 as Zach England converted his 2nd of the weekend to make it 2-1.  The Whalers would answer back late in the period on a 5 on 3 man advantage, Ryan Webber took a Nate Richards feed and blasted a one-timer home to tie it up 2-2.

In the 3rd period, the Whalers would take their first lead of the game at 10:10 when Zach McDaniel knocked home a loose puck from Tanner Tinoco to make it 3-2 Whalers.  Things would remain that way until late in the game, with the goalie pulled, a Whalers turnover would prove costly with only 8 seconds left on the clock Steven Mallory blasted home the tying goal, sending the game into overtime.

In the overtime period, veteran TJ Sneath would notch his 5th goal of the weekend to send the Whalers to victory 4-3 from Nick Richards and Griffin Leach.

In goal, Sean Tannenbaum picked up his first win with the Whalers, making 37 saves on 40 shots.  Kirby Saari took the loss in goal for the Rev, stopping 39 of 43 Whalers shots.

For Hampton Roads, Trevor Voelker was ejected from the game along with Tim Murphy and Taylor Cutting of the Revolution.
